What´s new?

The new PUNK Pro is the logical evolution of our Performance-C kite. Following on from the HAZE and the SQUID, we are now also offering the PUNK in a Pro Line version featuring next-gen high-performance materials.

The new, stiffer materials have also enabled us to slim the kite down further and now equip it with a classic 3-strut design. Compared to the HAZE, the PUNK – with its C-shape heritage – is less curved (ARC), thus has less sail area exposed to the wind and consequently requires slightly less stabilisation in the centre. The 3 struts, manufactured using the new materials, give the PUNK Pro sufficient stability – even at the high end in strong winds. And the weight saving has a direct impact on the PUNK Pro’s overall performance: acceleration, responsiveness and drift are noticeably improved.

We have also optimised the shape of the PUNK Pro: the new Performance Hybrid Shape combines the characteristics of a sporty, C-oriented kite with the advantages of modern crossover designs. The result is a kite with tremendous agility, significantly improved low-end performance and exceptional versatility. Whether it’s megaloops, big air sessions, freestyle tricks or challenging wave rides: the PUNK Pro impresses as a crossover in every discipline with sporty precision and direct feedback.

The aspect ratio and ARC (curvature) have been deliberately retained. As a result, the PUNK Pro continues to deliver the tremendous airspeed, sporty handling and explosive performance for which the PUNK is renowned.

The materials used in the PUNK Pro Line are super-light, yet still strong and durable. For the front tube and strut material, we use the ultimate Dacron from Challenge in the USA. It is significantly lighter than conventional Dacron. The composite coating enhances durability and tear resistance. The PUNK Pro also features lighter bladders manufactured in Germany.

The 3-ply ripstop canopy fabric comes from the premium Japanese manufacturer Techfiber and offers some of the best tensile strength and tear resistance on the market. It is very light and exhibits significantly less white breakage than other canopy fabrics. The trailing edge does not require a double layer of fabric, which prevents water from accumulating. As always, every feature has been scrutinised to trim away unnecessary weight without compromising the PUNK Pro’s durability.

With our Pro Line kites, we offer you access to super-light yet durable kites. We deliberately avoid fancy marketing names for the materials used and let the facts and figures speak for themselves: the PUNK Pro 9m weighs just 2,800 g, making it one of the lightest kites in its class.

Direct control & maximum turning speed

The new Performance Hybrid Shape generates lift earlier and delivers impressive performance even in light winds. You’ll get going sooner, jump sooner and benefit from a significantly wider usable wind range. The PUNK Pro retains its key characteristic: it only reaches its full performance potential once you start moving it.

Improved low-end

The newly developed profile of the HAZE provides enormous propulsion without sacrificing speed. With the defined profile in the kite center, you can glide effortlessly even in light winds - without any major kite movements. The flat profile in the transition to the tips keeps the kite extremely fast.

The tips of the HAZE are slightly pulled back to improve the leverage ratio so that the kite remains easy to control even in the high-end range. The optimized bridle setting balances the power distribution perfectly between hook and bar, which enables the HAZE to deliver maximum depower. This means you can also fly a size larger to get even higher.

New to the range are the 8m and 10.5m sizes, which complete the spectrum from 7m to 12m. These closely graduated sizes now offer you the perfect choice for your individual preferences, kite spots and wind strengths - and ensure maximum safety right into the strong wind range.

Maximum stability at full power

Maximum stability at full power Even with just 3 struts, the PUNK Pro remains extremely stable when riding at full power. This is ensured by the Pro Line’s next-generation materials and the stable suspension system featuring the Fixed Bridle. Less deformation means more precise control, consistent performance and maximum safety in high winds.

Massive megaloops with a secure catch

The PUNK is renowned for its powerful and uncompromising megaloops. We’ve made this beast more controllable. This is down to a combination of numerous optimisations: the hybrid shape, the fixed bridle system and the ultra-light Pro Line construction. You can precisely control the aggressiveness of your loop via your steering angle and steering input. As a beginner to looping, you can build confidence with your first ‘baby loops’. This is because, overall, the PUNK Pro is significantly faster in the loop and on the catch. This gives you more time and, consequently, greater safety. It also gives you the option to perform your first loops at lower altitudes – rather than having to wait until you’re at least 10 metres high.

Intuitive bar feel

The PUNK Pro is designed for kiters looking for a highly agile and responsive kite with precise power delivery. The bar feel is intuitively tuned. The harder you pull on the bar, the more you feel the kite. If you push the bar out as far as it will go, you can fly the kite with virtually no effort. Perfect for wave sessions or on a foilboard. Thanks to the tip adjustment options, you can further fine-tune the balance between bar and hook forces to suit your preferences.

All-rounder for every discipline

The PUNK Pro is a true all-rounder. C-shape kites are renowned for their wide range of applications. Thanks to design adjustments in newer generations, drawbacks such as poor depower have long since been eliminated. Whilst they offer less inherent pull compared to delta-shapes, this is compensated for by the kite’s manoeuvrability. Ambitious riders can use it to make the most of their entire repertoire. Thanks to the PUNK Pro’s lighter weight, it drifts even better during wave and foil sessions. It also still has plenty of slack for freestyle or wakestyle moves. Big-air manoeuvres are executed with precision, whilst megaloops feel faster and more controlled than ever before.

If you’re an ambitious kiter who doesn’t want to be tied down to a single discipline, the PUNK Pro is the perfect crossover kite for you.

What technology lies behind the SPLEENE PUNK?

The PUNK, a Pro Line model featuring high-end materials, is the next big hit. A 3-strut design, hybrid shape and a completely redesigned bridle system offer a whole new PUNK experience.

Pro Line Kites

The PUNK is our third Pro Line kite after the SQUID and the HAZE. Pro Line kites are equipped with Next-Gen materials and manufactured in a very complex production process.

The core of the Pro Line is the use of super-light Code 155P Dacron from the premium sailcloth manufacturer Challange from the USA. We are deliberately avoiding fancy marketing terms for the new material here and sticking to facts and figures: The HAZE 9m with 4 struts weighs just 3,000g!

Our Pro Line kites are characterized by numerous other features: The new bladder material comes from German production and also reduces the overall weight of the kite.

Reinforcements are only used in high-stress areas and are made from lightweight materials. This is where 15 years of kite development really pay off. The 3x ripstop canopy used comes from the Japanese premium manufacturer Techfiber. Its tensile strength and tear resistance values are among the best on the market, while it is lighter than a 4x ripstop canpopy and has less white breakage. The high-quality coating allows water to roll off immediately. The absence of canopy doublings means that water cannot accumulate in the kite and make it slow and heavy.

Every detail of the kite is made with the best materials. The manufacturing technology sets new standards in kite production.

Performance-Hybrid-Shape

Freeride kites are traditionally delta-shaped, with the term ‘delta’ derived from the shape of the tips. Typically, a delta-shaped kite has a higher aspect ratio – the ratio of length to height – than a wave kite, and is flatter in design – less curved (arc) than a wave kite or an extremely curved C-kite. This design offers a large generating area at the centre of the kite, resulting in an early launch, excellent hangtime and plenty of power without the need to move the kite significantly. The swept leading edge ensures a comfortable bar feel and makes relaunching easier.

In recent years, the aspect ratio and arc have been adapted to the demands of the megaloop. An extremely elongated and flat kite is often sluggish and difficult to loop. With our HAZE, we have always prioritised agility over ‘tractor’-like handling. The sweep of the leading edge and the tips, which are pulled back slightly, have been optimised to make the bar forces easier to control. This improves the kite’s high-end performance in particular. Agility is also significantly enhanced by the new sweep, allowing for a bridle setting that lets the kite fly more freely, takes it further to the edge of the wind window and offers more depower – ideal characteristics for precise megaloops and a safe catch.

3-Strut Design

SPLEENE bases the number of struts solely on the perfect stability-to-weight ratio. We don’t need an odd number of struts just to give the kite a centre strut. Why? Because it isn’t necessary! Even if other manufacturers’ marketing tries to convince you otherwise.

We consistently opt for a 4-strut design for our freeride kites. Four struts are lighter than five and, thanks to the new material, offer sufficient stability. This weight-optimised setup works superbly in light winds and when foiling, as the kite remains very stable in the air.

The Gemini 4-strut design has another key advantage: without a centre strut, the kite can twist perfectly around its longitudinal axis and responds instantly to steering inputs. At the same time, airflow is optimised at the centre of the kite, generating enormous lift and buoyancy. The result is an ultra-fast kite with an impressively wide wind range and exceptional hangtime.

Fixed Bridle System

Double Cut Panels

Delta-Shape kites require an evenly curved leading edge for optimum performance and a smooth relaunch. An angular transition not only looks unappealing, but can also lead to kinking. An even sweep also ensures that the kite sets up for restart without resistance at the edge of the wind window. We have therefore doubled the number of panels in the transition to the tips and eliminated potential kinks.

In addition, we have redesigned the diameter and shape of the front tube, especially in the transition area to the tips, to ensure greater stability. The flexible tips continue to provide gentle cushioning from gusts.
