With the Carbon Pro Line, we boost lightwind freeride kiteboarding to a new level. Optimized usage of carbon, precise handcraft production in Germany and years of experience in development build up to a board line, which is a class of its own.

 

The consequent application of the carbon lattice does not only give the Carbon Pro boards an unbelievable low weight. The structural characteristics outperform everything that is possible with regular kiteboard construction materials.

 

The low weight, not much more than 2000g, gives the board a fantastic lightness and playful handling, that you only expect from much smaller boards. The boards take easily off the water and while being airborne, they seem almost not existent. The high-end carbon fibres deliver outstanding riding dynamics. The structure is able to load up allot of energy and release it in a very precise way, delivering an exceptional pop. Besides that, carbon slows for sure very good flex and comfort characteristics and in combination with the wood core, all vibrations are eliminated.

X³ Carbon Construction

The Carbon Pro Line Session 54 is hand crafted with a very special multi-layered carbon lattice. This non woven carbon is especially produced for Spleene.

There are 3 layers:
– One layer with the strongest roving in 0° to give the board the requested stiffness and flex
– One layer in +27,5° and another layer in -27,5°to avoid torsion and produce a very responsive board with maximum low weight

The advantage of a multi-layered carbon lattice is that you do not have waves in the rovings like you have at woven fabrics. In the multi-layered carbon lattice the rovings are straight oriented to the tension to enable the carbon work in the best possible way.

All layers are fixed with a very thin seam to avoid movement during laminating process (see picture).

High End handcrafted Carbon Laminate

The carbon laminate of the Carbon Pro Line boards is handcrafted at a high end level. You can easily see this at the visible structure of the carbon rovings on top side of the board, because of the very little usage of epoxy resin in order to save weight. Only with a maximum vacuum and the knowledge how much epoxy resin must be injected into the fibres, such dry laminates are achievable. The uneven surface is the proof and not a defect for high end handcraft.

The bottom sides of the Carbon Pro Boards are wet grinded with very fine and waterproof sandpaper, creating a shark-skin surface. This reduces water drag, resulting in faster acceleration and increased top speed. A high glossy look at the base side would have been much easier to produce, but we wanted the better gliding performance. Only very skilled workers can produce such a constant surface.

The Carbon Pro Line Boards are designed with CAD (computer aided design). This enables us to explore the performance of a board in advance and test many variations. With FEM (finite element method) we can optimise the weight/stiffness ratio. All changes on the core, which influence weight, can immediately be tested on flex and stability. The result is a weight reduction by 45%, with perfect flex and stability performance. At the picture you can see what happens if you put allot more load to the board than you will ever do in kiteboarding.

The woodcore and the final body of Carbon Pro Line Boards are cut by a very precise CNC machine. This guarantees our high demand on quality and is the best basis for a high performance kiteboard. The deviation is less than 0,001mm!

Reinforced inserts

All insert positions are reinforced in the woodcore, to guaranty high load. The inserts are fixed with a special glue before lamination process.
